Markus Erk Managing Director Pieps
Austrian company Pieps GmbH is considered the world's technological leader in the creation of avalanche transceivers(ATDs).
For 45 years, the company has been developing, producing and marketing products for safety in ice and snow all over the world. As early as 1968, Pieps developed its first avalanche transceiver in collaboration with the Technical University of Vienna, which was marketed in 1971.
In 2003, Pieps was the first company in the world to introduce the first 3-antenna avalanche transceiver with digital signal processing and integrated marking and scanning functions.
The Pieps Iprobe avalanche probe is a one-of-a-kind product, an innovation that can reduce the chances of buried people surviving by up to 60% and considerably increase their chances of survival.
Winter 2014 also saw a revolution in the avalanche airbag market with the Pieps Jetforce. This is the first electronic avalancheairbag technology with a blower nozzle that uses only the surrounding air to inflate the bag and enables multiple triggering. Other innovative products will be presented in 2016.
In addition to new shovels with a unique C-handle, a lightweight 3-antenna Bluetooth-enabled device, the Pieps Micro, will be introduced to the market.
With the company's development department and production competence center in Lebring (Austria) working closely with professionals in various alpine sports, all products are developed and produced according to the Premium Alpine Performance motto.
