The harness is on a roll! In response to this demand, suppliers are constantly coming up with different products to suit your practice: long-pitch climbing, sport climbing, reclining, indoor climbing, mountaineering, etc. Choosing a pure Alpi model is no easy task.

Features of a mountaineering harness

While the question of comfort remains a personal matter, let's not forget that the specifications of a mountaineering harness are very different from those of a climbing harness.

A mountaineering harness needs to be equipped with at least four gear loops and, if possible, Caritool-type hook loops for use in chutes or waterfalls, for example.
Models with thigh adjustment are also available . This remains an interesting option for greater comfort, but it still means extra buckles and straps, and therefore extra weight.

In recent years, the market has evolved a great deal, with more and more mountaineers using their ski touring harnesses on summer runs. This is a viable option, provided, of course, that you are willing to overlook comfort and accept a more limited amount of equipment.a
