As usual,AlpinStore would like to highlight the innovative technologies of our partner brands.
Today, let's talk about Responsive technology created by Salewa, an Italian brand belonging to the Oberalp group (same group as the Dynafit and Pomoca brands).
What is Responsive technology?
Responsive is an intelligent textile technology based on far-infrared radiation (FIR). In a nutshell, it contains a mixture of natural thermo-reactive minerals (which react according to temperature). The active particles are fused to create a masterbatch that is applied as a textile print, or integrated into high-performance synthetic fibers and combined with other yarns to create hybrid materials targeting specific activities.
How does it work?
The responsive technology's blend of natural minerals absorbs the heat given off by your body , recycling it into energy and then sending it back to the body via infrared light.
This infrared light, invisible to the naked eye, is not harmful to your health/body and does not interfere with electronic devices (smartphones, pacemakers, avalanche transceivers, etc.).
How does far-infrared textile technology work?
Research has shown that far-infrared radiation transfers radiant energy. Far-infrared radiation can be both absorbed and emitted by the human body. Far-infrared (FIR) emitting minerals embedded in fibers can emit this radiant energy so that it penetrates the skin and stimulates cutaneous blood circulation.
Far-infrared energy from the human body is transferred to Responsive's mineral particles, which act as absorbers. This energy is absorbed by the minerals, which then re-emit the same IL to the skin. The minerals absorb, store and re-emit IL energy to the body.
How long do I have to wear it for the technology to take effect?
To minimize muscle fatigue, we recommend you start wearing a garment designed with Responsive technology around 30 minutes before exercise.
After 20 minutes of effort, the infrared reflection begins. Tests have confirmed that the reflection continues for as long as the garment is worn.
To get the maximum benefit in terms of recovery, we recommend wearing a garment with Responsive threads for at least six hours a day.
For a more pronounced effect, it's best to cover as much of the surface as possible, rather than wearing multiple layers (which won't improve the effectiveness of the technology).
Today, Salewa invites you to dress with responsive technology from head to toe, with a few examples:
- JacketSella Responsive Jacket
- Technical top: Zebru Responsive technical top
- Pants: Sella Responsive pants
- Accessories: Rozes Warm sleeping bag
Responsive technology is an integral part of the fabric, so it doesn't diminish with each wash.
Responsive's benefits for the body and performance:
- Reduces lactic acid formation
- Improves blood microcirculation, which enhances body performance
- More energy for the body.
- Average increase in tissue oxygenation, enabling oxygen to be used more efficiently.
- Better thermoregulation of the body, which needs less energy to manage heat and is able to produce better results.
The results of our scientific tests show that :
IF ACTIVITY EXCEEDS THE ANAEROBIC THRESHOLD (sustained high-intensity activity, such as a fast 400-meter run), the body needs more oxygen. Wearing Responsive improves the body's blood circulation (oxygenation), helping to consume more oxygen than without it. Result: You can maintain your performance/activity for longer => Longer-lasting performance.
FOR ACTIVITIES BELOW THE ANAEROBIC THRESHOLD (such as walking, trekking, constant jogging or running, and even sleeping), the Responsive is able to help you make better use of the oxygen you inhale. => Longer-lasting performance.
DURING REST: With Responsive technology, the body is able to use a higher quantity of oxygen during rest => Faster recovery.
So, now you know all about this technology that will help you progress.
