Völkl redefines All Mountain freeride versatility

The iconic Völkl Mantra and Secret, mainstays of the All Mountain Freeride range, evolve for the 2024/2025 season with the launch of the M7 Mantra and Secret 96. These next-generation Völkl skis feature improved stability, agility and maneuverability, offering increased versatility for unparalleled on- and off-piste sensations. In addition to proven Völkl technologies, such as the Tailored Titanal Frame to reduce weight while enhancing stability, and Tailored Carbon Tips for improved responsiveness, the M7 Mantra and Secret 96 feature the brand's new innovation: the 4 Radius Drive. These combined advances push back the limits of skiing, setting a new standard for pleasure on the slopes. With the arrival of the M7 Mantra and Secret 96, Völkl takes a major step forward in its commitment to innovation, offering an incomparable skiing experience.

Climate change confronts skiers with increasingly unpredictable snow conditions, both on and off the slopes. Völkl has integrated these challenges into the design of its new All Mountain Freeride models, incorporating innovative technologies such as the 4 Radius Drive. These skis guarantee both stability and robustness, while preserving the pleasure of skiing. The result is an exceptional experience in diverse snow conditions, combining precision, pleasure and ease, accessible to a greater number of skiers.

Reinventing turn dynamics: Völkl unveils the 4 Radius Drive.

Unlike its predecessor, the M7 Mantra features the 4 Radius Drive, an evolution of the proven 3D Radius Sidecut, an innovation exclusive to Völkl and unheard of in other manufacturers. This technology places different spokes at strategic points along the length of the ski, revolutionizing the variability of turns. It combines easy handling with unrivalled stability. This innovative design maximizes versatility in all snow conditions, both on and off piste. The addition of a fourth spoke at the front of the ski enhances precision and agility on hard snow, while dramatically increasing maneuverability for short, tight turns.

The ski features four distinct spokes distributed along its length, offering a unique combination of precision, responsiveness and agility:

- Tip / R1: A tighter spoke (approx. 20 m) is integrated into the tip to maximize precision and agility, enabling immediate response to the skier's initial movements.

- Front / R2: Between the tip and the binding, a more open spoke (approx. 40 m) reinforces resistance to external disturbances, providing increased stability at high speeds.

- Center / R3: A tight radius (approx. 15 m) at the camber offers maximum agility, reacting instantly to the slightest edge movement, and facilitating short turns or deep carves.

- Tail / R4: The moderate radius (approx. 25 m) at the rear of the ski enables a fluid, controlled transition at the end of a turn, providing optimum support for smoothly linking turns.

This unique design confers great versatility, enabling skiers to link long and short turns with ease, while reinforcing tip resistance to variable snow conditions. Whether off-piste or on demanding terrain requiring rapid changes of direction, the 4 Radius Drive enhances the performance of these skis, renowned for their exceptional versatility.

Tailored technologies for optimized performance and durability

One of the key features of Völkl ski construction is the integration of exclusive Tailored technologies. The Tailored Titanal Frame precisely positions the Titanal frame along the edges, adjusting the width of the frame to the length of the ski. This reduces weight while improving agility, requiring less effort. The ski becomes easier to control, responsive to changing conditions, and adapts its power and stability to the skier's size and weight.

Tailored Carbon Tips bring precise control and increased agility to the tip, particularly useful for short, fast turns. The orientation and thickness of the carbon fibers, as well as their angle of inclination, enable the ski to store energy with a minimum of effort. For the new models, the layout of the fibers has been improved to optimize torsion and tip stiffness. Thanks to these technologies, control is enhanced and turns can be initiated with greater precision.

The optimized use of materials, such as the Tailored Titanal Frame and Tailored Carbon Tips, illustrates Völkl's commitment to sustainable development. In addition, Völkl's Straubing factory is 100% powered by renewable electricity from the Danube hydroelectric plant in Kagers. From January 1, 2024, the company will also switch to CO2-compensated gas to further reduce its impact on the climate and move towards its goal of carbon neutrality.

Alongside the M7 Mantra, the new version of the Secret 96 will join the Secret All Mountain Freeride range for women from the 2024/25 season. It will also benefit from the M7 Mantra's flagship technologies, such as the 4 Radius Drive, Tailored Titanal Frame and Tailored Carbon Tips, which will enhance the ski's dynamics, agility and versatility.
